Object type: rock face.

The rock is located approximately 2.25 m south of graffito no. 557 and about 2 m to the left of no. 540, beyond a natural cut. It measures 70 cm in height, 70 cm in maximum length, and 50 cm in minimum length.

Layout

The graffito, hardly legible, runs boustrophedon in two lines.

Execution: chiselled.

Palaeography

Letters of the archaic alphabet of Thera: Aspiration: represented as a closed rectangular with orizontal crossbar. Rho: rigid bowl.

Commentary

The name is not otherwise attested in Greece. The context of the Agora of the Gods features other cases of male proper names followed by adjectives (sometimes preceded or followed by other proper names, see, for example, nos. 545, 546, 547).
